Opportunity to join the Board of Kabosh, the only site-specific theatre company in the north of Ireland
Kabosh is an independent theatre company focused on creating exciting theatre in interesting places using the history, stories and buildings of Northern Ireland as its inspiration. Founded in 1994, the company constantly strives to push boundaries of live theatre performance, to cultivate partnerships with arts practitioners and create new environments for performance.
The company firmly believes that arts, theatre in particular, has a key role to play in the cultural and social regeneration of Northern Ireland. In addition, Kabosh creates high quality cultural product for the stimulation of citizens and visitors alike.
In 2011/12 Kabosh employed 146 freelance artists; 11,194 audience members and 769 participants engaged with the work, and with a turnover of £313,213 from an annual investment of £95,675, Kabosh generated £3.27 for every £1 investment from Arts Council NI and Belfast City Council. A registered charity, Kabosh is seeking a range of skills to help enable the growth of the company in line with its artistic and strategic objectives.
Kabosh is keen to attract board members with skills and experience in strategic planning and financial management but are equally keen to hear from enthusiastic individuals with a passion for the arts or the desire to make a difference. We are keen to attract individuals who will be committed to the organisation’s ambitions and are willing to commit the time, energy and dedication to the company and the work produced. We are open to a diverse range of skills and will value the personal and professional experience you may have to offer.
There are four board meetings per year, approx. 2 hrs long, held in Belfast city centre.
